So far...

I have been fundraising now for about 3 months and already have gained a substantial amount from all the very generous people that have gotten involved in this expedition.
So first of all I would like to start by thanking everyone that has already given their time and money to help send me on this trip very much and hope that they have enjoyed it as much as I have.

Coffee Morning!
So far then, we have raised £1700.46 in 3 months. How do you say? I held a coffee morning that raised a total of £325.90. We held it at my Grandma's house in Sheffield as that is where most of the people were from. Also, my Grandma has a beautiful garden that was perfect for this particular event. Myself, my Mum and my sister all waited on the guests and my Mum baked all of the cakes. As well as selling cakes, we also sold books, hand made broaches and of course tea and coffee. The main reason this event was a success, was the fact that my grandma knows so many people who are amazing to talk to and are so generous. So again I thank them all.

Yummy Cakes!
I have also raffled off a few of the absolutely stunning rocking horses (made by my dad and my Grandad (see the Wooden Heart page for more info)) and in doing this raised £126.80. This seemed to go down really well with lots of customers at craft fairs and carnivals as these rocking horses are truly gorgeous (seriously, check out the Wooden Heart page). Also at Shieroaks  Carnival, me and my Mum did some face painting. This also went down really well with lots of the younger kids that were at the carnival and they loved it!

Handmade Rocking Horses
And the rest of the money raised so far has come from my supportive parents waking up at 5 in the morning to take me to car boots, dropping me off a work early in the mornings and helping me save money. I have been working at the Lindrick Boarding Kennels for nearly a year now, I have started a job at the Palms Fitness and Dance Studio, and has also signed up to Avon (through my Mum). I have received numerous extremely generous donations, from friends, family and a couple of my local councilors. From all of these, we have raised £1,247.76.

All in all, with the help of my friends and family, I have raised a total of £1700.46 of the total £3680 that is required. Yey!! What I found hard when I started fundraising as my confidence was lacking a little. I didn't really want to approach people and ask them for help. But now after all that we have done so far, my confidence has grown and has helped all aspects of my life.

So what am I doing next? Next, at school, the group of us that are going on the trip are holding a Kenya Fest on 4th October. We will have people performing songs, selling cakes, selling artwork, selling popcorn and much more. It should be a great event and time for all involved, and will hopefully raise a good amount of money to split between all of us.

I will keep you updated on how that goes and anything else that I / we are planning on doing.

Thank you for reading :)
