Camps International is the organisation that the team and I are travelling with. I would like to point out from the start that this organisation isn't a charity and it does make money from theses enterprises. However, Camps International is an organisation that is dedicated and commits to the completion of beneficial community projects and conservation work, both in Kenya and various other countries. Thousands of volunteers travel to one of the many camps in Kenya, and across the globe, to help start and finish projects that benefit communities who need the help the most. Each project works closely with the community, building locally, employing locally and buying any resources they can locally.
Although Camps International is not a charity, its sole purpose is to benefit, help, and work along side the many people who live in rural Kenya. It is now a big part of their lives helping to develop there communities. It does this by building schools, providing safe and clean drinking water, providing jobs and conserving the wildlife.
- is protecting over 130,000 acres of wildlife habitat
- has planted 600,000 + trees
- has benefited 30,000 + people
- has constructed 200,000 + liters of water storage
- has built 30 + schools
- removed 10+ tonnes of marine refuse
- and much much more!
The projects are helped mostly by the local community as the aim is to provide them with the tools and knowledge to carry on themselves when Camps International moves on to new areas.
As well as all of this, there is a chance to climb the sister mountain of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Kenya. It is a four day trek that takes three days to climb up and one day to climb down.
This amazing opportunity for the people I am traveling with, the people I am going out to help and myself, is one that will stay with us all for a life time. It is a unique opportunity to help build precious social, leadership and teamwork skills, as well as giving us a chance to live among rural communities, making lifelong friends and sharing unforgettable experiences.
So, the whole point of this blog is to let all of you know of any fundraisers that i am planning on holding, how my fundraising is going and how the trip goes. Also i am hoping to gain support and donations for funding this amazing expedition and if anyone has any tips or advice for me I would be very grateful.
Thank you so much for taking your time to have a look through this blog. I hope that you to can get involved and help change someones life.
